The 3rd China- New Zealand Technology Innovation Summit 2019 was held in Hangzhou

On November 21st, 2019, the 3rd China-New Zealand Technology Innovation Summit was held in Hangzhou. Professor Yang Tingzhong from the Tobacco Control Research Center of Zhejiang University School of Medicine (TCRC) was invited to attend the conference and gave a speech at the opening ceremony.

The theme of this conference is "IDEAS TO LIFE", creating a better world with innovation. Professor Yang said tobacco control is an important method not only to promote population health, but also for creating a healthy environment and clean cities. Globally, a tobacco control alliance has been built, and nearly 200 countries have ratified the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) to bring about the tobacco-free world. Meanwhile, the cooperation between China and New Zealand has extraordinary significance for tobacco control research and social applications in both countries even to the whole world.

Many famous domestic and foreign experts and scholars has attended the conference. Moreover, the New Zealand Counsellor to China and the Consul General in Shanghai also present and support this conference

The New Zealand National Institute of Health Innovation (NIHI) is committed to research on the application of new technologies in the health field. There are many high-level scientists and researchers for the development of new health technologies. NIHI, leading by Chris Bullen, has established cooperative relations with many countries around the world and got remarkable achievement. Since 2016, NIHI and TCRC has worked together, and jointly developed a m-smoking cessation programme for Chinese population, which is based on the platform of Tencent. This is a basis for NIHI, TCRC and Tencent to build a long-term cooperation in promoting population health with a high-tech pathway.

The conference was successfully held and laid the foundation for more research cooperation between China and New Zealand in the future.
