Academician Zheng Shusen Elected Foreign Member of French National Academy of Medicine

It is reported that Prof. Shusen Zheng, Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of Hepatic-biliary-pancreatic Surgery Department at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine was elected foreign member of French Academy of Medicine (Surgery) on 19th of December, 2017 (Paris time).

Shusen Zheng, the famous surgical specialist in the fields of Organ transplantation, was awarded the bachelor’s degree in Clinical Medicine from Zhejiang Medical University in 1973, was awarded the Master’s degree from Zhejiang Medical University in 1986, was elected Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2001, now is working at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine. Prof. Zheng is a pioneer and an academic leader in organ transplantation and has made great contribution to promote China’s international influence in organ transplantation.

Prof. Zheng Won two First and two Second National Prizes for Progress in Science and Technology (including the Prize for Innovative Team), 5 First Prizes for Zhejiang Provincial Progress in Science and Technology and the Prize for the Major Science and Technology Contribution in Zhejiang Province of the Year 2003, the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation's Prize for Science and Technology Progress of the Year 2013. His project won Ten major scientific and technological progress of China's colleges and Universities in 2016.

French National Academy of Medicine was created in 1820 and is French medical institution with the highest accolade. It undertakes the French medical policy research and the medical knowledge popularization, with a major influence in the international medical community and the lofty academic status. Since the institution has been established, many academicians have received the Nobel prize in Medicine.
