March 28, 2018, Dr. Henry Chang-Yu Lee, renowned international criminal investigation expert, Chief Emeritus for the Connecticut State Police, and Distinguished Chair Professor in Forensic Science at the University of New Haven was invited to attend the “Lectures with Honored Teacher & Doctor” held by Zhejiang University School of Medicine.
Dr. Lee presented a wonderful lecture titled "Share my life experience – the Application of DNA identification technology in criminal investigation". Chen Zhi, Director of Judicial Identification Center of Zhejiang University, Zhou Ren, Deputy Director of Judicial Identification Center of Zhejiang University, Jiang Minda, Secretary of Zhejiang Association of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs, Researcher at China University of Political Science and Law, Zhang Youhong, Deputy Secretary and Director of Liaison Department of Zhejiang Association of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs, Professor Li Xiaoming, Executive Dean of School of Medicine attended the lecture.
Chen Zhouwen, Associate Dean of School of Medicine, presided over the lecture. Qianjiang Evening News, Zhejiang Daily, and other news media reported on the lecture. At the beginning of the lecture, Dr. Lee was warmly welcomed by Prof. Li Xiaoming.
During the lecture, Dr. Lee showed to students detective skills such as observing the situation of a toilet to determine how many people used it, checking the fingerprint on a trigger to differentiate between suicide and murder and using the color of the fire to judge how many sources it contains. Dr. Lee virtually exhibited the science and art of criminal investigation to students.
His success is the combination of prudence, thoughtfulness and new technology. Dr. Henry Chang-Yu Lee, propelled by confidence of our culture, inspired us with the beauty of science and power of assiduity.
