April 25th, the delegation from University of Toronto paid a visit to Zhejiang University School of Medicine. The five-people delegation included Dr. Trevor Young, the Vice Provost & Dean from Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Lynn Wilson who is the Vice Dean from Partnerships and Dr. Jay Rosenfield, the Vice Dean from MD Program. Leaders from the university including Yonghua Song who is the vice president of Zhejiang University, Min Li who is the deputy director from Department of International Affairs gave warmly welcomed to the delegation. Later on, the delegation visited School of Medicine, and Prof. Zhi Chen, the executive dean, Prof. Xiangming Fang, the associate dean for Medical Education and Xiaoming Li, the associate dean of International Affairs and Graduate Study, played host.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Jay Rosenfield gave a detailed introduction to the clinical medical education in University of Toronto. Afterwards, the two sides had a deep discussion regarding the former proposal of setting up a joint medical education program. In the end, the two sides established initial collaboration intention in the area of summer program and joint MD program. After the meeting, the delegation met with professors from Department of Genetics to talk about the further development of “Jointed Institute for Genetics and Genomics Medicine Zhejiang University and University of Toronto”. The delegation also played a tour to the Affiliated Children’s Hospital.
