A six-people delegation from University of Alberta visited Zhejiang University School of Medicine on June 30th and July 1st. The delegation included Dr. Richard Fedorak, the dean of School of Medicine, Dr. Fraser Brenneis, the vice-dean, Dr. David Evans, the vice-dean, Dr. Xinmin Li, Chair of Department of Psychiatry, Dr. John Chiu, a professor from Department of Family Medicine and Mr. Renny Khan, Director of International Programs. Xiaoming Li, the Associate Dean for International Affairs and Graduate Study, Hongping Wu, the Associate Dean of the School of Public Health, Wei Wang, a professor from the Department of Psychology, as well as Yagang Chen, the President of The Forth Affiliated Hospital played host to the delegation.
As a representative from each party, David Evans and Xiaoming Li gave an introduction to the two medical schools including the size of the schools, medical education, research and clinical medicine. The two parties had a discussion regarding a joint training doctoral program leading to a dual PhD award, the clinical internship of medical students and a joint built medical school. The delegation also had a brief visit to the First Affiliated Hospital, the Second Affiliated Hospital and the Forth Affiliated Hospital. The two parties also jointly held a symposium, and there were 12 professors gave talks during the meeting.
